Pierce’s childhood memories of Wexford choirs and brass bands in holiday procession profoundly inform his vocal performance and arrangement. But Turner has updated the song for the 21st century, rewriting the words for a world where “a new kind of evil has blinded our minds,” a world that now even more desperately needs the patron saint to “Look down with your love.”
