Paul Cebar

Paul Cebar

Simply entitled PAUL CEBAR, the new album deftly blends a complex collection of diverse musical styles into a set of songs that are timeless and vibrantly full of life.  A Midwestern music icon. A Wisconsin Hall of Famer. A Knight of Bohemia. Paul Cebar has had a long, illustrious career creating music that travels back and forward across eras, while also drawing from influences from around the globe – from the obscure R&B and soul gems that he brought to The R & B Cadets to the wide range of world rhythms he injected into his dance-friendly originals for the Milwaukeeans and Tomorrow Sound. This album, however, seems even wider in scope while featuring lyrics that feel more intimate in nature. His genre-matching skills are on full display throughout Paul Cebar. Over 11 captivating tracks, Cebar draws upon the sounds of R&B, Tex-Mex, Latino soul, garage rock, doo-wop and reggae to help form a sublime set of songs that engage your head and move your feet.

The album features Cebar’s bandmates from the Tomorrow Sound (bassist Mike Fredrickson, drummer Reggie Bordeaux, and keyboardist/saxophone Bob Jennings) and buddies from New Orleans (saxophonist Derek Huston and trombonist Charlie Halloran) along with new Chicago-based collaborators (trumpeter Doug Corcoran, NRBQ’s Scott Ligon, and multi-instrumentalist/producer/engineer Alex Hall). A listen to Paul Cebar reveals why Joe Ely calls him an “American original” and Nick Lowe hails him as “the real deal”.
